AIA Myanmar, the world’s largest and Myanmar’s leading life and health insurance provider, recently organised the “Work Well! Thrive Well!” event at Pan Pacific Hotel, Yangon. The event aimed to spread awareness of the significance of overall employee well-being and AIA Myanmar’s role in fostering healthier workplaces for corporates in Myanmar through its innovative health and life insurance offerings as well as its flagship Ar Yaw Gyan (a word derived from the Burmese proverb about health) with WorkWell programme. It particularly focused on companies not covered by AIA Myanmar’s corporate solutions offerings.

In line with its Purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, since commencing operations in 2019, the insurer has been dedicated to raising awareness about insurance protection and overall well-being in Myanmar, and has also organised a number of wellness events across the country, to positively impact various local communities.

At the “Work Well! Thrive Well!” event, AIA Myanmar presented their comprehensive Corporate Solutions offerings for life and health protection suitable for companies of all sizes, with their proposition being further strengthened by Ar Yaw Gyan which supports employees in achieving well-being across physical, mental, financial and social dimensions.

AIA Myanmar’s insurance product offerings include its recently launched Life Insurance proposition, which provides employees with a wide range of benefits to protect their families in the event of unfortunate incidents such as death, partial or total permanent disability and cancer; incidents which can put a significant financial strain on the employee’s family. The lump sum payout made by AIA Myanmar to the family upon any incident enables the family to cope with the loss of income, especially in cases where the employee is the sole breadwinner in the family.

The insurer launched its Health Insurance proposition in 2022, providing employees with health protection through reimbursement of their medical bills in the event of hospitalisation, surgery, emergency treatments, outpatient consultations and a range of other health-related issues, which are unexpected and tend to impact a family’s savings. The reimbursement of health expenses and the availability of cashless benefits in more than 6,800 hospitals worldwide ensure that employees are not burdened with medical costs in the event of any unfortunate health incident.

These unique product features are first-to-market in Myanmar and offer customisation, flexible pricing, coverage for employee dependents and more, making it cost-effective for companies to provide these benefits to their employees.

Vivek Aranha, CEO of AIA Myanmar, made a point about the relation between employee well-being and productivity saying: “When employees receive benefits that align with their values and well-being, this boost in well-being translates into higher productivity, resulting in better overall business outcomes.”

The event also included an expert panel discussion on challenges related to employee well-being across the four dimensions. The panel of experts shared their insights on how employers can best help address these concerns, one of which being Yaw Gyanthat has received excellent feedback from the corporate customers since its introduction in 2022.
