Mid-Autumn Festival lands on Friday, 25 September 2026, which means Yangon has entered its annual mooncake phase. Lobby pre-order desks. Gift boxes with tassels. That slow-dawning realisation that your gift list has quietly doubled since last year.
BreadTalk’s own festival copy captures it perfectly: “I should get one for this person too…” “I shouldn’t forget that person either…” Before you know it you’re buying eleven boxes and wondering how this happened.
So here’s who’s selling this year, what you actually get in the box, what it costs, and the phone number to call. Eleven sellers, sorted by box price.
First, the deadlines
The festival is 25 September. The discounts mostly end 31 August.
Meliá, LOTTE, PARKROYAL, Pan Pacific and Inya Lake all close their early-bird offers at the end of August. Sedona’s runs to 14 September but you have to actually pay, not just promise. Wyndham’s opens 24 August.
If you’re buying in any quantity, this week is the week.
Under 100,000 MMK a box
Café Salween
The most adventurous mooncakes in Yangon, and it isn’t close. Salween’s chefs built eight of them this year with Burmese ingredients and Chinese poetic names — including one containing whisky, bacon and beetroot, which we would like to state for the record is a real mooncake you can really buy.
There’s also caramelised pork with lotus paste, and a wagyu beef and shiitake number. Four of the eight are vegetarian, if the above has alarmed you. New packaging this year too.

Inya Lake Hotel — Inya Moongifts
Comes in a reusable carry-on bag instead of a box you’ll feel guilty recycling. The bulk offer is also the most fun on this list: order 30 boxes and they’ll throw in Saturday buffet dinner for two. Nobody else is feeding you.

Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon
The biggest box in town — eight pieces, where everyone else is doing four. If you’re gifting a whole family or a whole office, this is the one that doesn’t run out halfway through.
Chatrium also sells singles at USD 7, which is worth knowing: eight singles cost less than the eight-piece box. The difference is the gift packaging, so buy the box for giving and the singles for yourself.

USD converted at 1 USD = 3,650 MMK, the rate printed on Meliá’s own flyer — hotels may bill kyat at their own rate. Box sizes vary from four pieces to eight, and nobody publishes weights, so compare boxes rather than doing maths at midnight.
A few practical notes
Buying for the office? Ask whether the bulk discount stacks with buy-ten-get-one-free. Several places run both and nobody’s announcement says.
Leaving it late? Chatrium and LOTTE need advance orders, and everyone’s kitchen has a limit in the last week of September. The people ordering 100 boxes got there first.

Vegetarians: Café Salween is the only one flagging vegetarian options outright — four of their eight.
