The best of the Mediterranean came to Yangon from the 10th to the 18th November. To celebrate the 3rd “Week of Italian Cuisine” Meliá Yangon Hotel collaborated with the Embassy of Italy in Myanmar to organise an Italian week at Olea Mediterranean Restaurant.

MYANMORE was invite to celebrate the opening of this culinary week on Friday 9th November with the inaugural private dinner, created by Chef Stefano Santo, Executive Chef from ALMA, an International School of Italian Cuisine.

The four-course meal included a starter of grouper and buratta cheese followed by a ginger mayo. Next up was a warming risotto, stained pink with beetroot and completed with muscles and a touch of green curry. For the main, beef sirloin with an apple puree was served on a bed of lentils and lightened with a sprinkle of rocket dust. To finish, guests were treated to a rich, dark chocolate ganache with crunching artemide rice, pureed pumpkin and a surprisingly original beer jelly. Accompanying the evening was a selection or wines from Olea’s extensive wine cellar.
