The Myanmore Dining and Nightlife awards are set to be the most exciting yet, and the deadline to nominate for your favorite venue is January 20. Time is fast running out to take part in the nominations process and be entered into the competition to win a pair of round trip tickets to Hong Kong courtesy of Cathay Dragon.
There are five award categories to nominate: Restaurant, Bar, Café, Local restaurant and Local bar/beer station of the year.
There are also six new and exciting award categories: Chef of the year, Wine and Spirits Ambassador, Newcomer, Entrepreneur of the year, Green Award, and the Special Contribution to Excellence award.
Perhaps the most exciting new award this year is the Green Award. This will be presented to someone that has demonstrated a clear strategic approach to their business that prioritizes the importance of sustainable and ethical use of resources.
In recent years in Yangon there has been a gaining interest in more environmentally friendly activities. The recycling industry in Yangon is of course very well established with independent recycling collectors traveling around every neighborhood in the city collecting recyclable rubbish. International charities such as Trash Hero are implementing projects aimed at promoting awareness of the impact recycling can have on the city and the planet; and local entrepreneurs such as the Chu Chu project in Dala are even recycling rubbish into crafts and fashion items.
But there is still much to be done. With the development of this award Myanmore pledges to contribute toward that incredibly important shift in the way that people responsibly interact with their environment.
The Myanmore Green Award aims to promote the ethical and responsible use of resources in the dining and nightlife industry and the winner of the Green award will become an ‘Ambassador of the Environment.’ They will be someone the industry can look up to, and emulate, and their environmentally approach to business will be promoted to encourage others to consider their own business practices and make improvements to the way they interact with the environment.
Head to Myanmore.com to get involved and nominate the business you think can help make 2018 the greenest year ever in Myanmar’s dining and nightlife industry.
