We are spoiled for choices to eat in Yangon these days. Yet, come by lunchtime, we tend to have “ What should I eat for lunch?” dilemma. Some days, you are just not up for heavy meals and now you have one more choice for those days.

Ô’thentic is a charming little French café which offers nice Breakfast sets featuring pancakes and toasts from 7 to 11 am while you can enjoy a large selection of crêpes and croc sandwiches for lunch time and dinner. They will be adding more filling menu for dinner soon.

The beauty of Ô’thentic is in its simplicity. Located in Yaw Min Gyi with huge glass panes, you are removed from the sound of outside buzzing road;yet, you can still witness them from the comfort of air conditioned room. The staffs were attentive and ready to recommend the menu for the first time visitors.

Suffering from “hungry-but-not-inspire-to-eat”, the waiter advised me to try out from their Savory Crêpe selection which boosts Traditional, Thai, Mexican and even Burmese Crêpe. I picked out Mexican Crêpe (5,5000 Kyats) which is the most popular dish with Kiwi Fruit Syrup (2,600 Kyats). The syrup was alright but the crêpe was a pleasant surprise. It really piqued your taste buds and while there was a mix of red and yellow capsicum and green chilli, the hotness was just about right with the creaminess of avocado and emmental cheese. I would have licked the plate clean if social etiquette allows.

Next, my colleague shared her ‘Banana Nutella’(4,000 Kyats) with me and while it was definitely a good dish for dessert, the familiarity of Nutella overwhelmed the dish for me to judge properly. Ô’thentic offers many choices in sweet crepe too and I will be trying “Mandalay Rhum Flambeed” (4,000 Kyats) with Lime juice and granulated sugar for my next visit.

At last, we tried the traditional yogurt (2,000 Kyats). It was in a simple bowl with a tiny pot of honey.I was expecting it to be just another yogurt but was very amazed by how delicious;yet, light it was. It was sweet enough that you do not need to add the honey.

Overall, it has been a really good lunching experience at Ô’thentic.
