Diners can explore the globe in one night at The Square’s World Food Market in Novotel Yangon Max with cuisine including Greek salad, seafood barbecue, chicken tagine, lamb ouzi, sushi, burritos, mohinga—of course, a bit of Myanmar fare—and much more.

Starting in Asia, sample the Japanese sashimi and roasted duck from Pekin, then move on to New York where you can customize your own burger. After the cheese corner, head to Italy for pasta, and then perhaps Mexico for tasty taco and burritos, and why not Brazil, with some Latin American meat skewers.

On the off chance that you haven’t had enough, go for some fish and chips from the UK and cross the Channel for a slice of French cheese. The buffet also has risotto, tapas and succulent jamon Iberico.

Seafood lovers can indulge on mussels, prawns, king crabs, clams, lobsters and oysters, as well as seafood fried rice from a giant pan. An almost overwhelming amount waits for dessert: ice-creams, sundaes, waffles, fruits and marshmallows with a five-tier chocolate foundation, a pyramid of donuts, chocolate mousses, yoghurts, eclairs, tiramisu, jams and fruit preserves.

The experience even transcends food—the music differs depending on which food station you are at (German melodies in the German food court, Japanese tunes near the sushi). Instead of paying for a ticket to Europe, this food market costs US$30 nett per person with free flow on juices and mineral water.

Wine and champagne are available for extra charges and taxes. Children under 12 years old go for $15.

Ready to get on board for a world food market tour? It is on every Wednesday at The Square restaurant, which opens every day from 6am to 10:30pm.
