HOME SWEET HOME : Sweet Tooth’s Heaven

If you are a real dessert lover, home sweet home, located on strand road, is absolutely your place to be!

Home sweet home is unique in its kind, they are only serving desserts made with local ingredients but using their Hong Kong techniques. So if you are in for a delicious dessert with a Chinese twist, I recommend you to visit this place. Besides desserts, they also provide you with coffees, teas and healthy smoothies.

From the outside, this small dessert house looks cozy. Inside, it gets even better. By using a lot of natural materials and colors and playing relaxing music, this place surely helps wind you down from Yangon busy streets.

The Chinese twist can be felt through the addition of Chinese decoration and the creative drawings on the wall from their Chinese chef. Plus, there is a selfie corner with a lot of cute gadgets for you to pose, snap and share on your Facebook.

As the name suggests, their menu consists of a variety of yummy desserts ranging from ice creams, crème brûlée, waffles, cakes and birthday cakes. My first impression is on the food presentation. By flipping through the menu, I was greatly tempted to order all the dishes.

Though there are many types of waffles you can choose from including the famous Hong Kong egg waffles, I opted for soft waffles with strawberry ice cream, hot strawberries and some cookie crumble (4,000 MMK). The waffles are soft and crunchy topped with cookie crumble and strawberry jam. On the side is strawberry ice cream, which blends well with the waffles.

My second choice is a crème brûlée. It is special here as it is made from Myanmar tea, which brings the crème brûlée to a higher level for me (3,500 MMK).

I ended the meal with a glass of fresh homemade citrus smoothie with orange, lemon and lime (3,000 MMK) that gave me the ultimate refreshing.

Home sweet home is a beautiful space with great desserts that is worth checking out.
