Now in Yangon at Sule Shangri-La Hotel, you can try authentic Yunnan taste prepared by guests’ chefs: Mu Xiaocong and Yang Tang flying in from Hylandia at Summer Palace restaurant. The menu features some of Yunnan’s most loved dishes from July 14-21.

Yunnan is China’s sixth largest province and is considered one of the China’s most beautiful regions. Its dramatic landscape and breath-taking views inspired all over the world.

Yunnan is home to a large variety of plant and animal species, making the ingredients used in Yunnan cuisine very diverse.

The area’s biodiversity and the many cultures thriving on its land have come together to create a wide variety of different food traditions – a beautiful mix of many different styles of cooking and preparation styles.

The entire menu was special, among the cold dishes; needle mushroom salad and poached black chicken with lemon were the best. Needle Mushroom salad made with ‘tao cheo’ which is Chinese soy bean and chili but not too spicy was one of the unique and recommended tastes for all.

Another cold dish is poached black chicken with Lemon. Unlike the usual chickens from our town, this black chicken comes from Xi Swan Par Na , one of the districts from Yunnan adding with lemon sauce and chili gives the taste of sour and spicy.

One more dish named ‘chicken cube in special pot’ is one of the most unique Yunnan dishes. The special pot with a hole in middle and the soup got from natural steamed chicken without adding any water.

Fried Dried beef with potato gives the crispy and crunchy taste of beef with spicy taste and pepper. Fried pork neck with chili pepper is also one of the must try dishes. Pork neck directly imported from Yunnan and cooked with healthy black mushroom.

Fried Mash Potato with Chili was also the recommended dishe. Even though,

it says fried with chili, they hide the spiciness of chili and taste was so special.

Shambhala Beef Pie with a coated layer of Cheese on top of it and sliced beef inside with onion. Chef told us that while cooking this, they used Chinese frying pan instead of oven.
