Digital Editor
Myanmore is looking for a digital editor to expand upon its digital presence and develop engaging content for its audience across all of its media platforms. The role requires an enthusiastic, organized and experienced individual with a creative approach to digital publishing to work as part of the content team and take consumer-targeted web content from concept to publication.
Working closely with the managing editor, duties will include overseeing a diverse team of staff and contributors; maintaining quality and consistency across media types and web platforms; driving increased traffic and brand visibility; frequently pitching ideas for stories; creating the highest editorial content (text and video) and helping develop the work of others; overseeing a content calendar; and representing Myanmore to the reader and at events and happenings, using this access to ensure the content created is up-to-date and relevant. The digital editor will be the voice and face of the website. The digital editor should have a good knowledge of SEO and command of the language and the ability to express him or herself in writing. Through social media you need to be communicating with customers on a daily basis – and 99% of this communication will be in writing.
Editorial Assistant
Editorial Assistants oversee the payment of freelancer writers and ensure they are able to submit commissioned articles on time. They are asked to write social media posts and work with the rest of the team to produce longer form articles. This may involve attending new openings and events or compiling questions for an interviewee. There are also several other tasks overlapping from administrative to editorial, such as pitching ideas and brainstorming with the team, sorting important information into word documents and spread sheets, translating Myanmar-English and working with the editorial team on the general development of the magazine and website.
Editorial Intern
Editorial Interns are integral in maintaining and contributing to the MYANMORE website, social media accounts and sister publications. Candidates are predominately university students, or those planning on attending in the next couple of years. In general, there are two types that tend to thrive as MYANMORE Editorial Interns…
1) Those interested in writing and visual media. These interns tend to creative types who like finding new stories about Yangon and are eager to speak with a local artist or street food vendors.
2) The other type of intern are those interested in media. They plan on pursuing careers in communications or marketing and see MYANMORE’s growing brand as an exciting place to work for.
Whatever the personality, all Editorial Interns have similar duties… the focus of the internship can be shaped depending on the interests of the individual. Monthly stipend for those who can work 40+ hours a week.
