The Strand Yangon is located on Strand Road, close to the Yangon River in the main commercial and diplomatic district. It is a 30-minute drive from Yangon International Airport and within easy reach of the city’s main attractions.
Ideally located in the main commercial and diplomatic district, 3 kilometres northwest of Shwedagon Pagoda (built more than 2,500 years ago, Shwedagon Pagoda is a magnificent, shimmering spire of gold rising 99.3 metres) and 1.5 kilometres northwest of Bogyoke market (a Colonial market which comprises 1,800 shops of gems, jewellery, paintings and traditional arts & crafts), The Strand stands for all that were wondrous and opulent in a bygone era.
This is the most famous landmark in Myanmar. Shwe Dagon Pagoda is the very first pagoda in the world and it has been standing at the center of Yangon for more than 2600 years.
Bogyoke Market in downtown Yangon is your spot if you want to take home some typical Myanmar arts and crafts from your trip. The extensive market sells products ranging from gems, to longyis, to the unique Pathein umbrella.
