Parami Pizza has introduced its “Parami Pizza at Home” menu for those who are craving for its best tastes in Yangon since first week of April. The items in the menu are ready to cook once it is delivered to you or you can even put them in your freezer for the week you plan to cook.

Last Friday, we ordered a pizza kit, lasagna and chicken wings to try at my place.

This paragraph is only for those who are wondering what is a pizza kit. Pizza Kits include everything you need to make pizzas; flours, dough, sauce, toppings, etc, at home in less than 10 minutes. All items are individually packaged, so whatever is not immediately used can be stored in your fridge or freezer.

So let’s forward to how it looks once you received them.

Here, what is inside my pizza kit.

  1. A package of pizza dough
  2. A package of pizza sauce
  3. A package of dusting flour
  4. A package of cheese flakes
  5. A package of oregano leaves

Beef lasagna and chicken wings come with plastic containers wrapped with foils so you can just put them into the oven and heat.

Now it’s time to make our pizza!

If you don’t know how to do it, we suggest you watch this video.

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/IIHyekP04m0″ width=”420″]

For us, we used an enamel plate since we didn’t have a pizza stone or baking sheet. First, we sprinkled dusting flours on top of the dough ball. Then we took it out and stretched it on the plate. Put sauce on the dough, cheese, added some sausages and oregano leaves on top. And it’s ready to go inside the oven!

For the temperature, preheat your oven to the highest setting first. Then adjust the temperature to 150-180 degrees in-between. Keep it until 15-20 minutes but please check as if it takes shorter period sometime depending on the dough you made.

Alright. Let’s go back to our wings and lasagna. Same method of heating, but easier. Just remove the top cover and put them into the oven separately — one at a time — and it should take 10-12 minutes at longest.

So let’s see our results!

Unfortunately, our pizza is a bit overheated since we forgot to check at some point. But only the the look gets bad, the pizza is still delicious. Wings and lasagna looks yummy as soon as they took out from the oven. And they actually do!

See the before and after pictures as following beneath.

Overall, it was smooth and easy to make these dishes and eat at home since Parami Pizza made it easier for our comfort. Don’t risk your life going to the market for the ingredients. I would recommend Parami’s pizza kits to make your DIY pizza at home during lockdown. And I would definitely order more for my future DIY pizzas and improve my skills. It’s also fun!

Oh, check out the menu and pricings here. Call 01 392 263 to order, delivery charges may apply upon your address. You can also order from Yangondoor2door delivery app.

Yangon’s favourite pizzeria, Parami Pizza arrives downtown and so does its new menu.

Parami Pizza, known for its signature wood-fired pizzas, has arrived in downtown Yangon, on Strand Road, as a replacement for Port Autonomy under the same management. Despite its former outlets on Parami Road and Saya San Road, it’s a good new for Yangonites who live downtown. Last week, Myanmore had a chance to try its new menu – bar snacks, signature pizzas and cocktails.

Endless Summer, Parami Pizza’s spin on Sangria, made with wine infused using local fruits, rum & soda is a must-go for those who love a sweet and sour taste. Everyone’s favourite Whisky Ginger with a homemade ginger beer, is served with whisky & fresh lime on the top. Another signature, Chocolate Negroni with Gin, Campari & Vermouth Rosso is cautiously clarified with Milo in-house. All cocktails are priced between  7,000 – 9,000 Ks with Happy Hour cocktails available from 4,000 Ks, and special prices on Bawdar beer & house wines by the glass daily between 5 pm – 7 pm.

Chocolate Negroni.
Endless Summer.

Whilst menus across the Parami group will be the same, Parami downtown features an additional bar snack menu with 10 tasty new bar snacks available (80% of which are vegetarian) priced from 4,000 Ks – 6,000 Ks. Our favourites included their insta-famous Fried Lasagna (6,000 Ks) with breaded, deep fried nuggets of Lasagna, and Pepperoni Pizza Rolls (5,000 Ks) with fried pizza dough filled with mozzarella, tomato & pepperoni.

Fried Lasagna (6,000 Ks).
Pepperoni Pizza Rolls (5,000 Ks).

Special pizzas include the Rubato (14,000 Ks), inspired by the Bee Sting pizza at Roberta’s in Brooklyn, comes topped with tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni & chilli infused Haven honey and for vegetarians, their new Pizza Noce – walnut in Italian – 12,000 Ks is topped with spinach, blue cheese & walnuts & is quite unique.

Rubato (14,000 Ks).

Parami Pizza is an absolute heaven for those who love pizza above everything else. With its cozy and cool atmosphere inside accompanying comfy lounges and cushioned couches, arcade games, beer pong and a 360-bar at the middle, won’t let you stop until your next party call comes in.

With an all new Brunch menu launching this weekend (available Saturday and Sundays 11am – 4pm) Parami Pizza downtown is sure to fill the gap in the Downtown market, with a la carte, and free-flow drinks packages also available.

Throughout February, enjoy Buy One, Get One Free on all pizzas every Tuesday from 11am-11pm (terms and conditions apply).

Boasting a view of Shwedagon Pagoda and Judson Church, new restaurant and rooftop bar Fratello offers customers a mostly Italian menu, with some Mediterranean fare, and may just be Yangon’s answer to Bangkok’s famed Above Eleven bar.

Fratello is decorated with photos took by the owner, Cho Zin Wyne, when she traveled around Europe five years ago. “I love traveling and food so I wanted to bring the food I tried in Europe to here,” she said. “Every dish was my favorite!”

Fratello’s signature Sangria welcomes with its sweet and sour taste, a mixture of red wine, orange, Hennessy, lemon, cinnamon, apple and green apple for 7,500 kyats. Red Snapper Tartare (12,000 kyats)—the second hello—comes with a splash of lemon juice, freshly ground pepper, and a dash of specially selected extra virgin olive oil.

Truffle Gnocchi

Real treats can be found in the restaurant’s mains, including the truffle gnocchi (9,000 kyats), which is made with potato gnocchi and truffle cream sauce, and the roast spring chicken (18,000 kyats) that comes with garden-fresh herbs, roasted garlic and homemade chilli sauce. Tasty!

Panna Cotta

For dessertarians, Fratello has its own take on the classic Tiramisu (8,000 kyats) with mascarpone cheese cream and ladyfingers dipped in Espresso. Also there’s panna cotta (6,000 kyats) with fine cream flan, fresh seasonal mango, lychee and raspberry coulis. Or if not, their walnut-cashew brownie is always an option.

Arguably Yangon’s best known pizzeria, Parami Pizza, has launched its new menu. Known for its signature Neapolitan pizzas, baked with simple ingredients (raw tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, olive oil) in a wood-fired oven, the restaurant also has a range of antipasti, salads, pastas, mains and mouth watering desserts.

Truffled Polenta Bites

They have recently updated their menu with new items—one being Truffled Polenta Bites (6,000 kyats) with minced corn fries in wheat served with homemade sauce. Parami invited MYANMORE to sample some dishes, including these bites which rocked the delicious scale quite easily with a potato and chicken meatball type taste.

New pizzas are the Tartufo E Funghi (14,000 kyats) with wild mushrooms, truffle, mozzarella, and the Di Pava (12,000 kyats) with tuna, onions, tomato, mozzarella, olives.

Tartufo E Funghi (left) & Di Pava (right).

As a new snack, Parami has Fritto Misto (14,000 kyats) with lightly fried seafood, fennel & pumpkin, lemon, aioli—a great one to share and whet your appetite. If you’re ready to try out these new dishes, don’t forget the Seafood Ravioli (12,000 kyats), enhanced by the prawns, squid, artichoke, and cherry tomatoes.

Seafood Ravioli

The updated menu is available at all ParamI Pizza outlets (Parami Road, Sayar San, and Union, which has pizza only).

I did not have high hopes for Sule Square’s Casa Mia. I don’t like eating in shopping malls, and Casa Mia has a particularly bad location behind an escalator and adjacent to the entrance to Shangri La. The high-quality authentic Italian fare, however, did impress and I recommend Casa Mia for a Mediterranean meal if you’re in the area.

I began my evening sampling a Prosecco as part of their ‘aperitivo’ promotion. At 5,000 kyats for a glass of fine tasting fizz with a complimentary plate of bruschetta it’s one of the more generous downtown happy hours. The bruschetta was light and refreshing and I
enjoyed the taste of good-quality olive oil. (The glass of house red at 4,000 kyats lacked any real flavour or depth.)

I started with the chicken soup (6,000 kyats): A creamy mushroom base with a generous helping of succulent shredded chicken. It went beautifully with the ciabatta which was crispy on the outside, airy yet chewy on the inside. One of the day’s specials—a homemade tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach for 10,000 kyats—was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in Yangon. The fresh pasta was delightfully eggy, chewy with a soft spinachy centre. It was served with sage, butter, and parmesan. Delicious.

I also ordered a plate of mixed grilled vegetables (4,500 kyats). None of the veggies were seasoned, the aubergine was undercooked and rubbery and the presentation was pretty poor. Due to carb loading on the free bread and breadsticks I was unable to fit in a dessert. Afterwards friends scolded me for this, as the restaurant is celebrated for its truffle ice
cream. On my next visit I’ll have to start with dessert.

The service was top notch, and, as I said, the food was in the upper tier of Italian cuisine in the city. The setting I do find hard to swallow. I’m not sure there is a seat in the house which doesn’t afford a view out onto the shopping mall floor. I wonder if Casa Mia would be better closing off their open plan entrance and creating a more private, and intimate,
Italian eatery.

E’Cucina Italian Restaurant on the second floor of five-star hotel Pullman Yangon Centrepoint introduced its quality Italian fare to Yangon on March 19.

The hotel overlooks Maha Bandoola Park near landmark Sule Pagoda in downtown and has four dining places in total: The Merchant All Day Dining Restaurant, The Junction, Gustave Lobby bar and the E’Cucina Italian Restaurant on 2nd, and an outdoor pool on 5th floor.

Inside the bistro

Myanmore visited the new restaurant recently, greeted by two staff waiting next to the impressive wine cellar, and met the hotel’s general manager Pieter De Weerd. The bar has a classy, attractive design with pendant lights and a high window near the tables offers a good street view.

The menu is packed with sumptuous Italian cuisine—antipasti (appetizers), le insalate (salads), zuppe (soups), primi (lots of pastas), secondi (generally meats), la cucina (pizzas), mozzarella (cheese courses), and dolci (desserts). Experienced Italian chef Nicolino Lalla runs the kitchen and cheers the customers with his food and smile.

From the range of starters we ordered frittura di calamari e gamberi—deep fried squids and prawns with balsamic reduction and tonno can salsa di capperi e insalatina di stagione—yellow-fin tuna fillet pan-seared and served with salad and capers dressing.

Then the chef recommended spaghetti allo scoglio piccanti—spaghetti in white wine sauce with squid, prawn, clam, black mussel, chili and cherry tomatoes—and ravioli ripieni di foie gras in salsa di tartufo—homemade stuffed ravioli with foie gras and ricotta cheese in truffle cream sauce for main. As you can probably tell by the names of these dishes, the food is something to relish. I would say, “it looks luxury but the food tells the story”. Plus, it would be a shame to end this without mentioning the fresh juice—particularly the orange juice, which would make everyone crave more.

Opening hours: 5.30pm – 10pm everyday
Address: 65 Corner of Sule Pagoda Road and Merchant Road, Kyauktada Township, 11182 Yangon

As someone who has had the chance to live in Italy and experience their marvelous cuisine, I can confidently state: Casa Mia is among the most – if not the most – authentic Italian restaurants in Yangon.

Pay a visit to Casa Mia if you are interested in trying classic Italian dishes, made with high quality ingredients and impeccable execution and presentation – their tableware is specially charming.

In the menu you will find a wide variety of antipasti (appetizers), primi (pasta dishes), secondi (meat dishes), contorni (side portions) and dolci (desserts), as well as soups and pizzas. A great part of their pasta is homemade – look for the chef hat sign next to each dish to find out! – and the whole menu tastes like Italy thanks to the fantastic work of Italian Chef Mario Fraschini.

For starters, we tried the traditional Bruschetta di Casa Mia (9,000 ks) and the Parmigiana di Melanzane (10,000). The bruschetta comes in a set of four pieces in four different flavours: artichoke, candied tomato, gorgonzola cheese and black truffle paste – all of which extremely tasty and lightweight.

The Parmigiana di Melanzane, or Eggplant gratin, arrived directly from the oven – and was the perfect comfort food for a cloudy day. The eggplant was tender and specially tasty – while the tomato sauce had just enough acidity. This dish is a landmark of Mediterranean food, and the execution went beyond my expectations.

As for mains, we chose to go with the Farfalle Alfredo al Tartufo (17,000) – homemade bow-tie shaped pasta, drenched in a tasty creamy parmesan sauce and sprinkled with truffles milled onto your plate! The pasta was very soft, and the bold taste of black Italian truffle complimented well the more mild tasting cheese sauce. Yum! This dish definitely stole the show.

We also tried the Four Cheese Pizza (13,000) – with mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola and pecorino. If you were on the search for quality cheese in Yangon, you have found your place. The pizza, just like in Italy, is made to be eaten individually.

Lastly, and most importantly – you cannot come to Casa Mia and not try their all-time-famous Truffle Ice Cream. One of the house specialties, this dish consists of a vanilla ice cream scoop filled with mouth-watering melting chocolate. I would say you should eat it fast, otherwise it will melt – but I reckon that will not be a problem. Absolutely irresistible.

The traditional Tiramisú was also a show stopper – more on the creamy side, but with the right amount of coffee.

From Monday to Saturdays, the restaurant offers set lunches for 12,000, including four different items from their menu, combined in a lunchbox.

From Wednesday to Saturday – from 12pm to 17pm – Casa Mia hosts its Italian style happy hour: if you order a drink, you get free access to a buffet of delicacies such as bruschettas, bread with parma ham, cheese and more.

I enjoyed the place so much I had to come back in the next day for lunch. Come to Casa Mia for authentic Italian food in the heart of Yangon – I guarantee you will not regret it.
