Han Kook Kwan distinguishes itself from other Korea restaurants with a different outdoor concept- Korean barbecue in Tiki huts. Those sitting outside are treated to the sight of cooks doing their work. Various meats come with assorted kimchi sides and are served as soon as they are grilled.
One of the most famous Chinese hot pots in town. This Kamayut Branch has only indoor seating (air-con supplied). You can have normal soup or spicy soup as stock. This restaurant is also popular for its fresh hand-made Strawberry Juice in the winter season.
Harley’s is a healthy brand of quick-serving, restaurant quality food at affordable prices. Burger meats are grilled only when ordered. Sides of coleslaw and potato salad comes from a traditional Icelandic recipe, thanks to their chef Gunnar. Coffee buffs will love their added range of blended ice coffees and shakes. Meats are bought and prepared fresh daily so none of the frozen or preserved food here.

Gekko is located on the ground floor of the beautiful Sofaer & Co. building in downtown Rangoon. It was completed by Isaac and Meyer Sofaer in 1906. Both brothers were Baghdad-born, Rangoon-educated Jews. As well as owning many commercial properties in Rangoon, Isaac and Meyer were successful traders in their own right with interests in wines & spirits amongst others. Isaac was the architectural designer and Meyer made a success of the trading business by getting exclusives for luxury goods and supplying expats with imported groceries and spirits.
Gekko was Yangon’s first true open Japanese kitchen with a charcoal fired Yakitori/Robotayaki grill and cosy cocktail lounge. The menu is focused around charcoal fired Yakitori, with several vegetarian options available, as well as classic Japanese dishes like Katsu Curry, Ramen, and an extensive menu of sushi and sashimi. Min Lann is famous for its seafood and Rakhine, noodle called Rakhine Mote Tee. Choose your fish, lobster or shells from the counter: they will cook it as you order and serve it with green chilli sauce. There are many outlets of Min Lann Restaurant in Yangon and all are crowded till late at night.

The famous big bright yellow smiley face of Happy Cafe & Noodles can be found in quite a few venues in town. The most enjoyable setting is in the garden of the beautiful colonial building which shelters the inya Road Branch. Their patio is the place to go for some relaxing drinks and a couple of shared plates of Myanmar foods. Their menu focuses on Myanmar snacks, rice and noodles but offers Western options too (and cheap cocktails).
The beautiful lakeside restaurant of Agnes in Kandawgyi Hotel offers a magnificient spread of French-inspired food every Sunday. A real highlight of Yangon’s culinary scene, it’s easy to see why with its great selection of meats, salads, grilled meats and desserts that sets it apart from the other brunches around.
Inside the Karaweik Park, Nervin Cafe sits pleasantly on a hill overlooking Kandawgyi Lake. It’s a calm pleasant spot to spend the day and usually offers a pleasant breeze from the lake. There is also a very good and reasonably priced casual menu with a selections of pizza, pastas, paninis and gelato.

Sai’s Taco was the first Mexican restaurant in town. It is also a social enterprise which acts as a “home” for youngsters coming to Yangon. They stay a few months, learn restaurant skills and get a salary before venturing further on their own path. Sometimes, some items such as the corn chips are not available, and some dishes can turn out to be a bit oilier than necessary but overall it is a good and affordable option for fajitas and tacos.
The Muses is great choice for lunch or coffee. Decor is classic, it’s a lovely and quite place with outdoor seating.
ASAGIRI Sausage & Restaurant , located in the central city of Yangon Myanmar. Various kinds of sausages, steak, pasta and iron plate cuisine are available there. They do not use any artificial preservatives in the ham and sausages homemade. Beer, wine and served the sausage freshly in store.
