The original soundtrack has been captured and cultivated by ‘Developing Music’, a unique music concept created by Adam Nicholas. Visitors to The New Boris will be entertained with a new genre of sound combining everything from tribal beats and vintage tracks to unique to Myanmar sound effects and recordings. The unique design of the bar hosts contemporary colour stripes and stark white utilitarian tiles, juxtaposed against locally sourced Colonial style rattan loungers, upholstered in Chin fabrics weaved in the hills of northern Myanmar.
Peppers focuses mainly Asian and Western food, with their motto being “Great place for eating out with the family”, with a friendly and lively atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and the favorite is the pepper-stuffed chicken (large chicken fillet in bread crumbs with a creamy sauce inside, served with carbonara and a cauliflower-potato bake) and like most other dishes, it is a very generous portion that will definitely fill you up.
La Carovana has received mixed reviews. It is an exclusive place with high pricing and Nouvelle cuisine portions. The setting, on the first floor of the Villa is plain compared to the bar downstairs and the beer garden outside. The quality of the food varies and we hope they will manage to reach the standard they aspire to provide.
TG Bar is the one and only bar in town that play hits, house, and hip-hop. Renaming each day of the week, TG bar has daily events hosting and early birds specials too. On the last Saturday of each month, they host a Performers and Entertainers Week.
Sabai Sabai’s Inya Road branch, now located infront of Sedona hotel, continues to maintain high standards. The food is presentable, mid-market and in a western-friendly restaurant. Popular among expats and locals, it serves Thai dishes such as tom yum, tom kha and seafood.. The sunset view is remarkable.
Most newcomers may first find it difficult to find this restaurant, but don’t give up (remember to carry their phone number in case you get lost). Their tasty beef imported from Japan and Australia is their specialty. Private rooms are available as well as special meals for business or private parties.
Long-standing in Yangon’s food industry, Green Elephant remains popular for tourist groups. The restaurant offers a vast array of different dishes, and are a great introduction to Asian cuisine for those not willing to risk street food. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated; the servers are attentive and efficient. Highly recommended are their sweet desserts but bear in mind that the restaurant is quite expensive compared to many other Asian-style restaurants in Yangon.
