Shan Yoe Yar is a Shan-style fine dining restaurant.Set in an attractive, air-conditioned and renovated wooden house, it serves a selection of well-known and lesser-known fine Shan dishes. The staff are dressed in traditional Shan outfits and the cuisine is outstanding.
Emerald Traditional Cuisine, a fine dining restaurant, is situated near University Ave Road. You won’t miss it; there’s a red-and-green LED light signage at the entrance. Opened late last year, it offers a more modern take on traditional Myanmar cuisine. Everything looks new, from the manicured garden to the furniture, the fixtures to the staffs crisp uniforms. Traditional Myanmar recipes come from Rakhine, Shan, Kachin, Chin and Mon state.
Both branches of Easy Cafe are popular amongst Yangon’s ‘digital nomads’ for their quick internet, relaxing vibe and well-designed decor. Brilled as your “home away from home”, Easy is an oasis of comfort with style and an open invitation to indulge in Taiwanese Asian-Western fusion of gourmet delights. The food is getting good reviews too, particularly its Taiwanese Rice and beef sandwiches.

Putao is the northernmost town of Kachin State, up near the beautiful Hkakabo Razi snow-capped mountain. The food served in this Putao restaurant is mainly Kachin food, but they also serve a few Thai dishes. Their cuisine is made from plenty of greens and interesting potatos, and is then spiced with a Putao variant of the dreaded ?gullah-authee? chilis.
Daw Saw Yee is a cheap, authenticate and humble Myanmar food experience, where both locals and adventurous tourists can appreciate the local scene. There is a brief English-language menu, but your best bet is to have a look at the selection of curries behind the counter. As in most places, curries come with rice and a small soup.
