The famous big bright yellow smiley face of Happy Cafe & Noodles can be found in quite a few venues in town. The most enjoyable setting is in the garden of the beautiful colonial building which shelters the inya Road Branch. Their patio is the place to go for some relaxing drinks and a couple of shared plates of Myanmar foods. Their menu focuses on Myanmar snacks, rice and noodles but offers Western options too (and cheap cocktails).
This garden is located beside Inya Lake. There is also a romantic restaurant known as Sein Lan So Pyay, which offers a variety of food and drinks.
A trendy cafe` that sits in a phone shop in downtown Yangon, Coffee Club offers authentic European coffee as well as a range of sandwiches and cookies from Yangon Bakehouse.
Lotteria is a very well-known fast-food chain. Many locals frequent here, and is a great alternative for those craving McDonald’s type of fastfood. Their bulgogi burger is highly recommended as well as their soft-serve ice-cream. But do not order the prawn burger…it is painly no good.
Inside the Karaweik Park, Nervin Cafe sits pleasantly on a hill overlooking Kandawgyi Lake. It’s a calm pleasant spot to spend the day and usually offers a pleasant breeze from the lake. There is also a very good and reasonably priced casual menu with a selections of pizza, pastas, paninis and gelato.
