An authentic thai restaurant with variety of thai cuisines to choose.
This is a typical local restaurant which serves Myanmar and Chinese dishes that come in large portions. Good for a feast after visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda. Their pan grilled chicken, mee whole fish and squeezed fruit juices are recommended for their freshness. Expect a place only Myanmar people can create.
Secret Recipe is a cafe chain hailing from Malaysia with over 100 franchises in ten countries. It specialises in cakes, cheesecakes, and fusion food. Myanmar patrons have generally favoured Secret Recipe’s savory choices over sweets such as Singaporean laksa, Thai tom yum, and Japanese soba; and Western classics such as chicken Parmesan, fish and chips, and their award winning lamb shank. They have good cakes too, including chocolate mud pie, chocolate and banana cake, carrot cake, and berry cheesecake!
This outlet of Paragon bakery is always buzzing with people ordering custom-made cakes: may your dream cake be shaped as Spiderman, Hello Kitty, a giant Minion or a Liverpool Football Club Tshirt, you can be sure that they make it happen (with more or less brio sometimes!). Even though the place in itself isn’t anything special, the taste and the reduced use of cream is what really counts.
Another venture of Radio Bar, the new Northern Old Skool can be found in front of Yangon International Airport. Decorated as an old garage with a giant on top, it is a place where rock stars from the ‘80s gather and perform on the stage. Enjoy your drinks and feel the rock vibes at Northern Old Skool!
Authentic Singapore Chicken Rice, Prawn Mee, Bak Kut Teh & Claypot Rice. Hotplates, Hot Pot & Locally-made Ice-Cream also available.
Do not underestimate by it looks of the dimly lighted small bar of “Born in Japan”. They have alot to offer. The decoration might be a bit messy with samurai and other Japanese classic posters but they make sure you and your friends get your own space.
A great place to hang on with friends or family in the evening, STEAK offers an assortment of grilled and barbecued meats and seafood with some greens on the side in a street setting.
Taste this delicious Shabu Shabu Hot Pot from Taiwan. Food comes either in individual a` la carte plates, or as a set of meat plus vegetables. Not a big eatery, it seats about 30 people. There are bar seats. Food costs average around 10,000 Ks for a set ; includes your choice of meats, vegies, iced teas and sauces. Staff and management are polite and friendly.
Easy cafe recently opened a second branch at Nar Nat Taw street and is still popular among Yangon’s “digital nomands” for its quick internet relaxing vibe and well-designed decor. Billed as you “home way from home”, Easy is an oasis of comfort with style and an open invitation to indulge in Taiwanese Asian-Western fusion of gourmet delights. The food is getting good reviews too, particularly its Taiwanese Rice.
