This cute little restaurant opened up in Pearl Condo recently, and has already made a name for itself. Expect a colorful place with small wooden green chairs, a flower on the table, traditional north Mexican music and affordable tacos, quesadillas and burritos. Recommendations include the beef tounge and the myanmex tacos. If you buy 10, you get 2 free: Taco pastry, I say!
Cousins Grill, now located at downtown, has also opened a new branch at Kandawgyi Park. Down the road from Royal Thai and across from Fun Food Centre. They serve American and Mexican food such as burgers, steaks, burritos, nachos and more.
The open-air Mindon Lounge is the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening. From light refreshments to cooling cocktails, the shaded garden area entices you to sample the exotic delicacies of Myanmar.
Renovated and recently reopened, Salud offers an array of Latino dishes in a bohemian and rustic setting. Bric-a- brac objects of art adorn a brush stroke interior of red, gold and green beneath bronze colonial ceiling fans and light shades made from recycled bottles. The ambience leans towards a fun night out. A dangerous collection of rum and tequila is stacked high behind the bar while salsa and dance set the tone.
Salud is a great venue for a fun night out with friends. The cuisine is satisfying and good value for money while the tequila and rum will have you swaggering to the bar for more.
Sai’s Taco was the first Mexican restaurant in town. It is also a social enterprise which acts as a “home” for youngsters coming to Yangon. They stay a few months, learn restaurant skills and get a salary before venturing further on their own path. Sometimes, some items such as the corn chips are not available, and some dishes can turn out to be a bit oilier than necessary but overall it is a good and affordable option for fajitas and tacos.
