This Restaurant and Bar has a mission : help people discover the country through food and chatter. The trendy “travelstyle”cafe’ cum restaurant is set in the nice surrounding of Kandawgyi lake. Although there is no direct view on the lake, the small tent-like outside dining area gives quite a unique ambience for a truly delicious meal. Set in an attractive wooden colonial home, House of Memories is a one of a kind in Yangon. They dish out mostly Myanmar specialities but also have Thai, Chinese and Indian dishes. The main draw for many is that this was once the office of the country’s independence hero, Aung San, and upstairs, you will find a few artifacts from his time. Their balcony and garden are nice and breezy.

The young and happy staff speaks some English and is incredibly helpful. They show their guests around how to order from the different stalls within the restaurant. There is a one for Mohinga, one from which you can pick vegetables and get them stir-fried, one for Shan noodles and rice, one for soups and curries and finally a stall for desserts. Sit on the back patio to enjoy the full splendor of this traditional Myanmar restaurant.

This restaurant only serves breakfast and it is always full ! The staple here is noodles. Take a pick : sichet (noodles with fried garlic), meeshay (Mandalay noodle), tobu nwe (noodles with bean curd) orand Shan traditional noodles. They make tea and coffee fresh for their customers, no instant sachets, and they are against the use of MSG. No wonder customers come back every morning : quality food always wins the hearts (and the stomachs) of the people.

Define Foodfare as “Fusion Kitchen”. Although they may also offer certain fusion cuisines, it primarily means that their kitchen is the melting pot of various flavours and cooking techniques. Foodfare simply represents “an array of food” and as our slogan states, they aspire to become a “One Stop Solution for Food”.

They serve Myanmar, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, Thai and European delicacies. Traditional tea-shop style breakfast is also served every morning. Further, there is also a buffet available for weekend dinners at a very reasonable price.
