Founded in 1961 (formerly known as Alliance française), l’Institut français de Birmanie (IFB) belongs to the French cultural network, made up of 96 Instituts français (French Cultural Institutes) and more than 800 Alliances françaises established around the world.
The IFB is a diplomatic compound that houses the Cultural and Cooperation Department of the French Embassy in Myanmar. It is in charge of cooperation projects and cultural programs between France and Myanmar. The IFB stands up for freedom of expression and cultural diversity, while asserting its competence and expertise in promoting French culture and language.
IFB activities are focused on three main priorities:
Dissemination and teaching of French language (teaching, official certifications, training of FLE teachers …)
Development of artistic and cultural exchanges, support for contemporary creation
Encouragement of university cooperation, promotion of higher education in France
