About the MYANMORE Awards

The 7th MYANMORE Awards is here! This event is the only awards ceremony in Myanmar celebrating the attainment of excellence in the food and beverage sector.

The MYANMORE Awards is focused on facilitating an environment where the attainment of excellence is supported throughout the year, not just celebrated on an annual basis.

After each awards programme a Programme of Excellence is held throughout the year in which award winners will be encouraged to share their knowledge with others to promote the continued improvement of food and beverage standards, whilst developing an ethos of excellence throughout the whole industry.

Venue Excellence awards

Members of the public are invited to nominate their favourites. The venues from each category with the most nominations will be compiled into a shortlist, and a panel of independent expert judges conduct thorough and undercover evaluations of the shortlisted venues. The jury consists of industry professionals and experienced food reviewers.

The MYANMORE Awards 2020 categories are:

  • Restaurant of the Year
  • Café of the Year
  • Bar of the Year
  • Myanmar Food Restaurant of the Year
  • Best Myanmar Premium Outlet of the Year
  • Best Myanmar Beer Outlet of the Year

Attention is being focussed on three specific areas of excellence: product, environment and service.

Product

This relates to the product that is provided by the venue, this could be food, drink, or a combination of the two. This includes presentation, taste, temperature, style, quality and individuality. This also considers menus, specials, wine and drinks lists.

Environment

This relates to the venue itself, and includes all the elements that make up the environment: atmosphere, decoration, lighting, noise, cleanliness, layout, ambience, temperature, even the toilets and the entrance to the venue. This also includes the relationship between the environment of the venue and the style of food and service.

Service

This relates to human interactions, these could be face to face or over the telephone/email. But mainly this considers the quality of service provided at the venue. This includes: product knowledge, speed of service, friendliness, helpfulness, professionalism, and personal presentation. This also considers the relationship between the service and style of food and environment.

The awards will go to the venues that that the independent jury finds performed the best in all of the areas the previous year.

Contribution to Excellence Awards

These award categories are to celebrate Contributions to Excellence by individuals, venues, teams and organisations. Nominations for these awards come from industry and are judged by an independent panel of industry experts that review all the nominations and make the decision.

The Contribution to Excellence awards categories are:

  • Chef of the Year
  • Wine and Spirit Ambassador of the Year
  • Newcomer of the Year
  • Entrepreneur of the Year (see video how to nominate)
  • Green Award of the year

The winners become MYANMORE Ambassadors of Excellence – whose standards and qualities will inspire others to aim for excellence. Likewise, award-winning venues will also be profiled as benchmarks of excellence. Winners will be featured in regular print and online articles and exclusive video ‘catch-ups’ throughout the year.
