Supported by the German Embassy Yangon and brought to life by the urban restoration experts at Doh Eain, this isn’t just another old building—it’s a living witness to Thanlyin’s maritime history and a bold step forward for the community.
The Atmosphere: History Meets HERstory
Walking up to the house, you’re greeted by a rare Sino-Portuguese fusion. Imagine European colonial proportions blended with intricate Chinese decorative elements—it’s a total dream for architecture lovers and Instagrammers alike.
But the real magic lies in how it was built. In a sector where men usually hold the tools, this project was restored by a women-led construction team. At the launch event, team member Saung Thadar Phyu shared an emotional reminder of their hard work, proving that women are powerhouse leaders in preserving Myanmar’s heritage. The result? A prestigious landmark that feels both grand and incredibly welcoming.
Why Go Now: “THE Event” (March 18–22)
While the house is officially launched, the real party starts next week! From March 18 to 22, the centre will host “THE Event” (Thanlyin Heritage Experience), a five-day festival designed to show off every corner of this new space.
