This International Women’s Month, a unique new exhibition is turning up the volume—and the focus—on the incredible women who shape our world.
What to Expect
“Her Work, Her Worth: Sights and Sounds of Working Women across Myanmar and Spain” is not your typical “sit back and stare” gallery show. It’s an immersive, cross-cultural tribute organized by the EU Delegation and the Embassy of Spain, with the creative support of Doh Eain.
The exhibition bridges the miles between Myanmar and Europe, highlighting a diverse range of professions. You’ll find stories of women in roles that are often undervalued, proving that every job—whether in a high-rise or a hidden alleyway—carries immense weight and dignity.
The Atmosphere
Prepare to have your senses tingle. As you wander through the historic YWCA halls, you aren’t just looking at photographs; you’re stepping into the lives of these women.
- The Sights: Striking portraits paired with personal testimonies that let the subjects speak for themselves.
- The Sounds: This is the “secret sauce” of the event. Local sound producer and DJ Lynn Nandar Htoo has woven field recordings from various workplaces into a moving soundtrack.
The clinking of tools, the rustle of fabric, and the chatter of the trade are transformed into an ambient journey. It’s intimate, atmospheric, and deeply grounded in reality.
