Ah Lin Saing holds a special place in the hearts of Yangonites, particularly those in the art and music circles. After operating at full throttle for years, the cafe scaled down its operations by 90% in May due to the owner’s health condition and other reasons. However, to the delight of its loyal customers, it has made a triumphant return!
The gallery cafe occasionally doubles as a venue for art exhibitions. When it’s not bustling with artists, you’ll find musicians – both professionals and enthusiasts – hanging out and playing their works. Cluttered with antiquities, the space looks more like a living room than an eatery. From the paintings of pop stars from the bygone era, you can retrace Myanmar’s musical history.
The menu leans towards lighter fare, featuring salads, rice and noodle dishes with delightful Thai and Chinese influences. While the selection of hot and cold beverages is diverse, the alcoholic options are limited to mojitos and red wine.
Ah Lin Saing is a unique establishment whose atmosphere stands out and makes you fall in love with it instantly. Even during its period of reduced offerings and operating hours, patrons continued to frequent the cafe, using it as a space to converse, connect and strum their guitars. With its presence, Yangon shines a little brighter.
