Yangon will be lit this weekend with Thadingyut celebrations and Halloween parties!

Thadingyut Full Moon Day Celebration

On 29 October, the Thadingyut Full Moon Day, 9,000 candles will be lit at 5:30 pm in honour of the solemn day at the Botahtaung Pagoda. It’s believed that on this day, Gautama Buddha descends from heaven and the worshippers welcome him back with candlelight and flowers. Similar ceremonies will be held in Mandalay and other regions, too.
