Hotel industry is making a comeback with the launching of rooftop bars which has been a trending drift in Yangon lately. At the same time, young people these days always look for a place to chill after having a long day and their demands go beyond a normal bar.
So, today’s task will be adding another cool rooftop place to your must-visit bucket list.
The Luckee cat is a sky lounge and bar located on the 14th floor of Areca Hotel, Kabar Aye Pagoda Road, Mayangone township. With a 270-degree-open air view of the bustling city and the graceful Maha Pasana Guha Cave, which is adjoined to the Kabar aye pagoda.
It has both indoor and outdoor seating which offer a different vibe and atmosphere. Inside, aesthetic paintings, pendant lights hanging from ceilings, neon lights attached on the wall are quite amusing in our eyes .The door opens around 3:00 PM everyday and visiting around 6:00 would be the best time to witness the stunning city view.
The bar boasts a modern red-colored menu offering a diverse selection of food, starting from small & steam bites, noodles, rice, soups, salads and signature dishes, the luckee bites and the grilled bites. The price range is from 3,500 Ks to 12,800 Ks for the food corner. The drink menu features a rich choice, including beer, beer cocktails, wines, signature cocktails, shooters, whiskies, mocktails, smoothies and your favorite classic tipples.
My aperitif was the classic Tequila Sunrise which is based on tequila, orange and grenadine to open my palate. Then, I ordered the Grilled Dory and French Fries which were a great pair with my drink. After having the dish, my choice for the digestif was the Coffee Colada, a signature which is a medley of Dark rum, Kahlua, Pineapple juice, Coconut cream and lime.

The fish came around 10-15 minutes right after the order and it was a quite filling serving. The sauces were a nice companion to wash the taste of fat from the fish. The drinks were okay even though the Tequila sunrise didn’t reach my expectations for its faint taste.
Final Thought
I would say this bar occupies one of the top-tier views of Yangon and every corner there can create insta-worthy shots. Outdoor seating, especially the right ones from the entrance, are always full of reservations since they have the best views and more comfortable sofa. So, making a reservation in advance would be better. For me, the food was fine for a small bite and the drinks were okay. To summarize, it was a great experience to let myself flow in a trendy stream of rooftop culture. You can share your thoughts in the comment below.
