On February 18, the 4th Beach Clean-up & Coral Conservation campaign was held at Ngwe Saung Beach near Lovers Island, led by Myanmar Underwater Federation and Myanmar Dive Center.
The purpose is to reduce the current state of deterioration of coral reefs. It is a wake-up call for protection and conservation.
Dr. Than Win from the Myanmar Underwater Federation gave an opening speech at 7 am. Afterward, the diving team, led by Instructor Sithu Aung from Myanmar Dive Center, continued to carry out underwater clean-up activities in and around Lovers Island. The garbage collection and cleaning on the beach around Lovers Island was done at 10 am.
The event saw around 200 attendees from the organising bodies, hotels, restaurants, tour companies and influencers. The second part of the event was held at the Ocean Blue Hotel where experts gave speeches on coral conservation. The event concluded at 3 pm.
