J’s Grill House – Thuwunna

Nothing beats a beer and grills! This grill house takes on simple unpretentious street food so the prices are pretty fair (<Ks10,000). They serve from steaks to street-style BBQ on sticks.

Cafe Homlam

The latest addition to Yangon’s vibrant cafe scene. This one has a retro interior, which is becoming a recurring theme in the cafe atmosphere. The menu contains teashop snacks to Western-style appetisers — a bit all over the place. The prices range from Ks2,000-10,000.

TGI Shan Local Food

You don’t have to visit Taunggyi to eat Shan food (but please do since Taunggyi is a very beautiful place). TGI began as an online shop but now it has opened doors to serve dine-in customers. It specialises in Shan cuisine and the prices are from Ks3000-6000.

P O’clock Cafe

Mini cafes are a solution for high rental rates. This cute little cafe serves both hot and cold drinks at around Ks1,000 and the delivery is also available. It offers a 20% discount on the weekends so don’t miss it!

The Jetty by Akkhaya 

The Jetty is the newest member of Akkhaya food chains. Expect teashop food like samosa, bao and dim sum for breakfast, and rice and curries for lunch. It serves beers and BBQ in the evening which distinguishes it from other Akkhaya places.
