Welcome to MYANMORE’s weekly letter! These are our personal experiences and recommendations around Yangon and beyond. Let us know yours in the comments.

New things we have noted

Rangoon Tea House has introduced The Reading Room, a whiskey bar that’s aimed to become the largest library of whiskeys in Myanmar. You can buy a locker that can store up to 6 whiskey bottles at a time. If you’re a whiskey connoisseur, don’t miss it! The Room will be opened on 28 Jun. Recipe we’re trying

Tarlapaw soup is a Karen ethnic dish best shared with families and relatives. Its hot and savoury taste is perfect for the wet weather. It’s pretty easy to cook too. Here’s the recipe.

Place we are revisiting

The Envoy Bar & Bistro locates in the heart of downtown. It is known for its retro vibe and spacious balcony. It’s been a while so we’re thinking about checking up on it.

Event we will visit

This weekend is all about peace so no crowded events. What we’re going to check out is the solo show of a celebrated artist Win Pe Myint at The Sea Art Gallery. The show is titled “Perfect with Simplicity”. Sounds serene, huh?

Experience we plan

Sometimes it’s nice to escape the city and reconnect with nature. So we’re planning this trip to TM Farm Roadhouse. The farm raises dairy cows so you can also observe the milk production business. They also run a restaurant. The entry fee is only Ks1,000.
