It was in October 2012, during a casual after work in Captain’s Bar at Savoy Hotel, that the idea of MYANMORE first was formed.

As one of the few original places to meet up with aircon and good drinks, Savoy Hotel has always been the place to seek out in the Yangon heat whenever you needed a calm oasis to recharge and be inspired.

When the news of its permanent closure reached us it took a while to absorb the fact that it is now gone, our birthing ground and a Yangon icon for the last 25 years.

Over the years we have had a lot of great interactions and good memories. In 2016 Savoy Hotel won Best Burger at the MYANMORE Awards, and they kept their burgers on the top each year. Not what you really would expect from a french chef but they were outstanding. The F&B offering, in general, was at a top standard and it was a great place for business lunches.

The last activity we did at Savoy Hotel, right before COVID started, was a MYANMORE Magazine cover shoot with Sharky https://issuu.com/myanmore/docs/2019_oct-issue_final__magazine

Well, all good things must come to an end.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
