1Burma Bistro

Hidden in a colonial heritage building is Burma Bistro. Despite walking up a small stairway, the atmosphere will drastically change when you see the restaurant. The high ceilings, furniture, and brick walls create an old Burma setting that brings out a colonial style. The restaurant has beautiful terraces on both floors that look out to the heart of Yangon.

2Pansuriya

From the outside, you might not recognize this place as a restaurant. The galleries of local artists’ artworks and historical photographs fill the walls of Pansuriya. On top of that, the exquisite decorations create a unique retro style and give off a nostalgic atmosphere. Once you step inside Pansuriya, you will immediately get intrigued by the stories on the walls.

3Kipling’s Restaurant

Kipling’s Restaurant locates in a stunning boutique hotel that used to be an old colonial mansion. Everywhere you look, you will catch a glimpse of Burmese antiques and teak furniture. Not only the cuisines are fantastic, but you also get to admire a magnificent view of Shwe Dagon Pagoda while having a meal. You will be living in the past and present simultaneously at Kipling’s Restaurant

4Sofaer & Co

Sofaer & Co is where Rangoon meets Yangon. The restaurant retains a colonial-era structure and hasn’t altered anything ever since. Although the floor tiles, wooden wall panels, door frames, and windows are still original from the colonial period, it harmonizes with the contemporary design.

5Mandalay Restaurant at Belmond Governor’s Residence

When you enter Belmond Governor’s Residence, it feels like you are entering a place where time stands still in the 1920’s Colonial-era of Burma. All you can experience is the old Burma setting everywhere you look. A tranquil fan-shaped swimming pool and a tropical garden also complete the restaurant’s charming ambiance. What an atmosphere for customers to enjoy fine dining!

6House of Memories

House of Memories is a proud historical heritage building. The family of Dina Nath, a chairman of the Indian Independence Army for Burma, owns the villa. Additionally, the building was once the first headquarter of the Burmese Independence Army as well, and customers can visit General Aung San’s office on the second floor. The restaurant is decorated with original antiques and filled with memorabilia of noble residents. Just like its name, the villa is a house of memories.

7Karaweik Palace

Karaweik Palace a well-known landmark situated in Kandawgyi Lake. At Karaweik Palace, the visitors can see Burmese traditional arts and crafts called Pann Sel Myo (10 Flowers) and watch live cultural performances and puppet shows. Dining at a glorious royal barge will make you feel like royalty of Burma.
