Yangon authorities have started inspecting drivers on the road for the documents and identifications required for travel between townships.
Roadside inspections began yesterday and the drivers were asked for reasons for their travels and destinations.
The move is to restrict unnecessary travelling between townships.
Businesses that are exempted from the stay-at-home order must register online if they want to operate during this time. QR codes will be issued to their employees after registration. Only those with QR codes are allowed to travel.
The following businesses are exempted from the stay-at-home order.
- Banks and financial services
- Petrol stations
- Food and cold storage
- Pharmaceutical and medical equipment distribution services
- Drinking water distribution
- Factories producing hygiene products
- Airlines operating relief flights, cargo flights and chartered flights
- General aviation services
- Ground services
- Aviation fuel providers
- Air transport
- Freight forwarders
- Customs service agencies
- In-flight catering services
- Aircraft maintenance services
- Port operators
- Representative offices of shipping lines
- Freight forwarding companies at Yangon Port
- Customs services agencies at the ports
- Container transport services
- Transport of export/import goods at the ports
- Inland container depots
- Dry ports
- Post offices
- Landline and mobile phone communication services
- Internet services (vendors selling mobile phones and data are excluded)
- Services for communication towers and fibre networks

People who need to travel for important reasons must get approval letters from their township administrators.
