Edwin Briels, founder of Khiri Myanmar, is continuing independently under Exploration Travel and to celebrate, the company is sharing their top 10 of day-experiences to do up-country under 50 USD per person per day.

Especially for expats and Myanmar living in Yangon, but not really knowing the countryside, Exploration Travel came up with these 10 experiences to re-connect and re-discover Myanmar. 1 Biking through Inwa Village 

You will be passing ancient temples, farmers working on their fields, century’s old royal paths, impressive banyan trees and a charming weaving village.

2 A boat trip on the Dokthawaddy River

 Enjoy a tranquil trip on the waters from Hsipaw to an ancient, traditional and vehicle-free village with all traditional wooden Shan houses.

3 Bagan at night time

Your guide will bring along torches, as you are about to discover the sacred temples of Bagan under the moon; not only a cultural experience but also a foodie experience as typical dry zone food will be served.

4 Breakfast with an elephant in Kalaw 

We take you in the early morning to join with an elephant oozie to walk through the forest and call his elephant to come back from his night stroll.

5 Kayaking near Hpa An

Walk through Kayin villages, enjoy kayaking near Hpa An and have a typical home-cooked lunch in a traditional house.

6 Boat on the Thanlwin River

A day tour by boat on the Thanlwin River from Mawlamyine to U Na Auk village to discover what is probably the most impressive temple complex in the whole country.

7 Private Shan Cooking Class

Private Shan cooking class in a house on stilts in the middle of Inle Lake – even if you don’t like cooking the setting is so idyllic that just hanging out here watching food being cooked is fantastic.

8 Have a Fruitful Conversation with Padaung Women

Go with a local translator to the long neck villages near Loikaw and ask questions directly to the Padaung women about traditions and practicalities of wearing these heavy rings.

9 Safari through the Dry Zone

Jump on the back of a motorbike from Yenangyaung for a safari through the dry zone and the undiscovered ancient temple ruins of Pakannge.

10 A Walk Through the Bamboo Forest

Walk through the bamboo forest near Samkar Lake, have a picnic lunch and visit the impressive Tar Kaung pagodas.
