COVID-19 has brought out a lot of good in people and companies. The Linen for Life Face Masks is a programme where Shangri-La Group has partnered with Diversey, a leading global hygiene and cleaning company, and Badana Aid Myanmar in Yangon to provide the most vulnerable members of society with face masks, an item now mandatory when one is out in public in Myanmar.

Sule Shangri-La, Yangon is the first hotel in Myanmar to participate in the Diversey Linens for Life Face Masks programme, whereby used, clean bedsheets, duvet covers and pillowcases from the hotel will be upcycled into reusable face masks. With the support of NGOs such as the Badana Aid Myanmar, the hotel is looking to contribute up to 30,000 reusable face masks for communities in need during this period.

Badana Aid, a local NGO in Yangon, is committed to improving levels of education and sanitation amongst Myanmar’s most vulnerable. The NGO employs local women to make the fabric face masks, helping them generate a livelihood, and then distributes the masks to community members living in areas such as Hlaing Thar Yar.
