The energy is coming back! The shopping malls are filling up, traffic congestion is (unfortunately) back and life is surprisingly quick to come back to a normal. However, the restrictions on Visa and International flights and mass gatherings are still in place till June 30, awaiting further updates. On the positive side, long-distance buses operate again and restaurants, cafes, tea shops and markets are mostly open too, with social distancing measures. See our latest update here.
On Myanmar’s social media last week many of the conversations were about
FaceApp, a mobile app that allows users to apply their photos to transformative filters., and The Street cat named Bob, a famous cat who has starred in movies and books died on June 16. Most attention has however been on the scandal between a Burmese actress and a singer. Named as “Season two of The World of the Married” after the famous Korean soap opera, the rumour is that the ladies are stuck in a love triangle with a man although nothing has been admitted. People have been sharing and expressing their opinions on this matter, and the ladies involved has not been quiet themselves, sharing and deleting posts after each other. And on June 19 social media was flooded with birthday wishes for State Counsellor’s 75th birthday. It was also stated that a new version of Myanmar 500ks notes will be released on Martyr’s day, Sunday, July 19. The notes will include the image of late General Aung San.
