Lal Mon Puia, the bar manager of Gekko restaurant and a mixologist, who has been working together with Nikki Barltrop from 57Below also won Wine and Spirits Ambassador of the Year Award last year which shows the strong cooperation of the team.
January has been a busy week for Puia. He travelled to Milan with Campari for the Asian Bartender Competition Finals in early January and now he’s currently in Puerto Rico, for he has reached the Bacardi Legacy Wildcard Finals. “This is the first time that a bartender from Myanmar enters the competition and it has been an incredible experience for me so far.” said Puia.
He’s got a lot of plans to do in 2020, with the recent welcome of Edriane Lim, a well-known bartender from Singapore, to Gekko restaurant and he’s looking forward to hosting more guest bartenders this year. Along with Jen Queen, he’s also working on a new cocktail menu for Gekko.
He’s been working together with Nikki for a long time and they have contributed a lot in the hospitality community with their passion and interest in the F&B industry. He wishes to continue his training after his Bacardi Masterclass had been well-recognised in early January. Travel more, touring around Asia as a guest bartender by representing Myanmar – Puia has a big dream.
