Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Ayeyarwady Region Government Committee has made a decision to close the beaches in the region. 

Today morning, Myanmar reported the third case of COVID-19. 

The government has canceled the public events and celebrations, including pandals for Thingyan Water Festival, have been canceled starting from 13th March 2020 until further notice. 

Then, U Kyaw Myint, Minister of Ayeyarwady Region Government Committee, has made an announcement to shut down Chaungtha, Ngwe Saung, Shwe Thaung Yan, Gaw Yan Gyi and other beach destinations in Ayeyarwady region and religious festivals, crowded places such as pagodas, hotels and any other celebrations are suspended till the end of April 2020. The report also mentioned the prohibition period will be increased if necessary.
