Myanmar sets additional restrictions to travellers from all countries

In order to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic inside the country, the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has proclaimed additional precautionary restrictions to travellers from all countries.

Since the Ministry of Health and Sports has confirmed that Myanmar has now testes positive for two cases – both under control – the Ministry of Foreign Affair Myanmar has made an announcement on additional restrictions today.

The following temporary restrictions will take effect for travellers from all countries to Myanmar, starting from March 25 2020 at 0000 hours:

  1. All incoming Myanmar citizens will be subject to 14-day facility quarantine, starting from their arrival day to Myanmar.
  2. All foreign nationals travelling to Myanmar are required to present the laboratory evidence of the absence of COVID-19 which is issued no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel and they are subject to 14-day facility quarantine upon their arrival in Myanmar.
  3. All diplomats accredited to Myanmar and United Nations officials are required to present the laboratory evidence of the absence of COVID-19 which is issued no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel and they are subject to 14-day facility quarantine upon their arrival in Myanmar.
  4. This notification shall supersede the precautionary measures announced earlier.
