“We do not have any experience in the F&B industry so we visited several bars, reviewed how they operate, making cocktails and everything to open our own and finally, here it is!” said Myo Htet Linn, one of the owners of the newly opened Tune Bar on Maggin Street in Yankin township.
Tune Bar was founded by four friends, who are complete strangers to the F&B industry. After 3 years of observing, struggling and planning together, they introduced it to people in Yangon. Officially opened on 11 February, Tune Bar is a great spot to hang out with your friends, having their signature cocktails and Asian-European fusion style.
The bar has got an interesting menu with a variety of dishes to choose from – Honey Glazed Chicken Wings, Fried Spam, Deep Fried Pork Small Intestine and a lot more. Among them, Sausage Platter (9000 Ks), Stir-fried Pork Spare Rib with Marlar Sauce (7,000 Ks) and Myanmar Style Fried Rice with Baked Beans (3,000 Ks) are worth trying, which all are served at reasonable prices. All sausages used in the platter are locally made from Rakhine, Kayah, Yay Oo and Zee Pain sausage from Pathein Township, with their desire to represent the culture and style of Myanmar in the dishes.
“Spicy Fried Crispy Pork Belly, Shrimp Cracker Salad and Mutton Mash are the most demanding dishes at our bar.” said Myo. Most of the dishes at the place are Asian cuisines with a bit of European twist that go together with beer or cocktails. The owners are also planning to add one of Myanmar’s favourite snacks, Mont Lin Mayar aka Couples’ Snack later to the menu.
Cocktails are the specialities of the bar and the creator behind them, the bar captain has over 7 years of bartending experience in Dubai. Some of the popular cocktails include Bullfrog, Blue Hawaiian, Pina Colada and Choco Bomb which was a popular drink among ladies on Valentine’s Day for its delicious flavour of mint and chocolate.
Shisha is also available at Tune Bar and to be matched with its name, the unplugged stage inside is decorated as a giant music book and is apparently the most eye catching feature of the bar. There are altogether 30 tables on each floor at the two-storied building and the stage can be seen from every corner of the bar. With the best selections of different music bands, guests can enjoy various types of songs- pop music, current hit songs, English songs from the 80’s and there will also be a DJ set with playlists which will give different vibes and entertainment to the customers. Located inside a quiet street in Yankin Township, the bar has got a fairly big car park at the front for the convenience of the customers.
Myo added, “Our customers are youngsters and middle-aged people from about 25 to 40 years old, who wish to relax with good food, good drinks and good vibes.”
