Babett Yangon has launched a new menu on 12 January along with the celebration of Galette des Rois, also known as King Pie.
During the event, media attendees and early-bird customers had a chance to taste the signature items on the brunch menu like Avocado & Egg (Ks 9,000), Frittata (Ks 9,000) and Strawberry Mascarpone Pancake (Ks 9,000). The kitchen team has made a 20-metre long King Pie and shared the pieces with the customers.
The brunch menu is available on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12 pm to 3 pm. You can try the King Pie throughout January.
Galette des Rois is made of frangipani filling sandwiched between puff pastry. Frangipane is an almond-flavour sweet pastry cream. Miniature figurines called “fèves” are baked into the pie and those who get the slice with a fève inside will be crowned as king or queen for the day.
Originating in France, the pie is shared among families and friends on the first Sunday of the first month. The occasion commemorates the Epiphany, the day the Three Kings visited baby Jesus. This King Pie custom dates back to the 14th century.
