It is payday. Reward yourself for making it to the another month! In November and December, Babett Yangon is serving lobsters that come all the way from the Canadian coast to your plate.

The Executive Chef Christophe has prepared 14 different recipes to relish these scrumptious lobsters starting from Ks 18,000. At the exclusive media tasting, Myanmore had an opportunity to taste some chef highlights and spread the word.

The appetiser Lobster Fregola comes first. It is a comforting bowl of poached lobster chunks, fregola pasta and cherry tomato confits. You can have it itself or pair it with some bread.

Then, Lobster Curry from the Chef’s Specials is served. If you’d like to try a Burmese curry, this is a must. Mind the coriander leaves! It’s a ubiquitous seasoning herb in the Burmese kitchen and gives the curry a more traditional flavour. But if you can’t stand it, you can’t stand it. The saffron rice that comes with the curry is a bit too soft for my taste. Steamed white rice will do just fine.

I indulged myself in a bottle of Les Jamelles Merlot 2017. It goes especially well with the curry. Les Jamelles Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is an option if you prefer white wine.

Creamy Lobster Bisque Torchietti is a delightful alternative if you don’t go for the curry. We also had a chance to taste Lobster Medallion from the a la carte menu. The slow-cooked lobster is sliced into thick discs and mixed with chanterelles mushrooms. The taste and tenderness of lobster is enhanced by Szechuan pepper sauce and each bite is total bliss.

Although we’re all stuffed with meals and wine, the vanilla Mille Feuille and ice-cream is still appreciated. There’s always room for dessert, right?

The menu aims to cater to people with different tastes and budgets. The grills are options. So, don’t miss your chance to enjoy the Canadian lobsters because they won’t be there forever!
