A press conference on the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World was held yesterday at the residence of the Italian ambassador.

During this week, from 11-17 November, some of the Italian restaurants in town – L’Opera, E’Cucina, Casa Mia and Fratello – will offer their customers a special menu at a “special price”.

Italian ambassador Alessandra Schiavo briefs the members of the press.

The initiative is undertaken by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs on the global scale. Embassy of Italy in Yangon will organise a series of events for the promotion of the rich and diversified gastronomic traditions of Italy.

The restaurants which have an Italian chef – L’Opera and E’Cucina – will also host Masterclasses in favour of the students of the Hospitality and Catering Training Academy, the Myanmar Tourism Human Resources Development Association and the Myanmar Deaf Chefs Association (which has been founded by the Italian citizen Maurizio Mandl and aims at ensuring vocational training in cooking to young deaf people in Myanmar).
