Waso Chin Lone Festival

If you have spotted locals manoeuvring the handwoven rattan ball in the form of a circle in the streets, it’s likely that you have heard of the traditional sport of Myanmar, Chin Lone (Caneball). The annual tournament of Chin Lone is held in Mandalay at Mahar Myatmuni Pagoda. In this highly participated event, over a thousand of Chin Lone teams and individuals across the nation come together to take part in this competition while traditional orchestra known as Saing Waing plays in the background. It’s fascinating, and indeed entertaining!
Pakokku Thiho Shin Pagoda Festival
From the 8th of Nayon Month
Home to plenty of farming communities, Pakokku celebrates the end of the harvest season at Thiho Shin Pagoda Festival– a significant event for this old town on the western bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. The local market fair showcases their specialities such as dried bean stew, tobacco, woven baskets and Tanaka. Traditional entertainment programs including Zat Bwe (musical drama) and A Nyeint (comedic performance) are also a must-try 15-day experience for culture enthusiasts.
