Fisherman’s Wharf Fish Hotpot

Though many traditional hotpots favour pork or beef, this hotpot on Sanchaung Kyaung Street specialises in all things fish. Choose a soup base and a live fish from their tanks, which include red grouper, catfish and black eel. A freshly cooked fish soup will soon arrive at your table with the chosen fish inside the soup and ready to be eaten. After you’ve finished the fish, your pot will then be returned to the heat and you can begin to add other items from the menu.

Beauty In the Pot

An outpost of Singapore’s famous hot pot dynasty, Beauty in the Pot can be found on Sayar San Road. Using healthy, nourishing ingredients and smokeless tech, each soup base is designed to aid your health. The coconut broth is said to nourish lungs and boost your immune system, while the herbal chicken broth is designed to improve blood circulation. After you’ve chosen your base, there are over 60 items on the menu to fill your pot with.

Dao Hotpot

Dao Hotpot

One for meat-lovers, Dao Hotpot are known for their famously rich beef soup. Situated beside the Marina Residence on Kabar Aye Pagoda Road, the spiciness of each soup is indicated by the figurine that accompanies it, be it rooster, cat or fiery dragon. Private VIP rooms are available for birthday parties and gatherings.

DIY Hot Pot & BBQ

The winner of the Myanmore Dining Awards 2016 for the best hotpot in Yangon, DIY Hot Pot & BBQ are situated in a huge two-storey building on Waizayantar Road and also have a second outpost on Ahlone Road. Serving both hotpot and BBQ, the Taiwanese style soups are aromatic and rich in both flavour and spice. A buffet is available for 12,800Ks and a selection of popular beers are also served.

Shwe Lar Hot Pot

Shwe Lar has long been a favourite hotpot spot among locals. Serving Taiwanese-style hotpot, guests can enjoy soups flavoured with the likes of mushrooms, spicey or kimchi and fill them with everything from shabu shabu, to premium snowflake beef or a selection of seafood. With no less than nine restaurants dotted across Yangon, as well as one each in Mandalay and Manlamying, there’s bound to be a Shwe Lar Hot Pot near you, each individually decorated but uniformly good.

Shwe Kaung Hot Pot

Shwe Kaung Hot Pot

One of the first hotpot restaurants to open in Yangon, Shwe Kaung can now be found in People’s Park as well as in Bahan. They serve Chinese style hot pot with a la carte menu. Diners in two mind about which soup to choose can order a bowl divided down the middle so they can have the best of their top two choices. Regular guests can also make use of a special loyalty card.

Jo Jo Hotpot

After originally opening in a small space on Nawaday Street, Jo Jo now have four more branches in Yangon, including one in Junction 8. Jo Jo have a particularly impressive seafood section, with fresh crabs, squid and clams, and are particularly popular with children for their selection of desserts, including ice-cream in a rainbow of flavours. Their all-you-can-eat buffet includes items like chicken wings and fries for anyone who isn’t keen on hotpots.
