Yangonites will be delighted to hear that they may soon be sampling a Pegu Club cocktail in the very place it was conceived; The Pegu Club itself.
Originally built in the 1880s for British military use, recent rumours suggest that the club, which was once one of the most renowned gentleman’s clubs in South East Asia, has re-opened its doors. While details about this latest incarnation remain closely guarded, sneak peek shots on social media look very promising.
Both Paul Theroux and Rudyard Kipling mentioned The Pegu Club, found just off Zagawar Street and Pyay Road, in their travel writing and now it’s sure to be the setting for many more stories to come.
