Some cafes go beyond the usual coffee and snacks in Yangon where some offer loads of board games, or even lovely dogs and cats to play with! Here’s a list of the best:

House Rules Board Game Cafe
A board game cafe brought together to create a haven for game lovers. At House Rules, you’ll have a wide selection of games to choose from and great coffee to have while enjoying a game with your family and friends. There are many board game cafés opening all over the world and while this is a new experience in Myanmar, they are creating more events, hosting tournaments and other wonderful experiences to play an active part of the community that spreads the joy of board gaming to everyone.

Freedom Dog Cafe
The cozy, garden themed cafe is filled with soft natural light. Inside is decorated with a comfortable pillow filled swing, lamp posts, colorful balloons, benches for talks, and cute chairs and tables. You can feel the grass below your feet, as if you were in a garden. Unlike a lot of cafes, Freedom Cafe allows you to bring your pets, and also have a gathering with other pet owners. Sometimes, the cafe brings in branded dog food and accessories with discounts and promotions.

Freedom Cat Cafe
The two-storey cafe is hidden in a street in front of Asia Royal hospital in Sanchaung. You can sit downstairs or head upstairs to see the village of kittens and cats going around the place. All of them are cute, playful and smart. Plus, you can enjoy coffee, snacks, and sandwiches while playing with them.

The Plant House Café
Enjoy coffee and drinks, books, house and indoor plants, local products, souvenirs, and traditional snacks in one place. The cafe has traditional food from northern Myanmar, Shan snacks, Burmese brewed coffee and May Myo’s drip coffee along with English books for entrepreneurship and other reads. Also, you can buy locally made social enterprise products here.

Yangon Language Cafe
Yangon Language Cafe is a Library cafe providing essential facilities for self study of languages including Burmese, Chinese, Japanese, Korea, French and Thai. It is a platform where people with mutual interests can exchange languages and knowledge. It is also a Cafe serving authentic coffee and tasty food. Yangon Language Cafe is where you can master a second language while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Yangon Bus Cafe
Yangon’s first bus cafe in town, where you can hangout with friends and family in Kandawgyi Lake park. Along with its signature coffees, the cafe serves chips and chicken wings as well as other snacks and burgers. The decoration inside is a vintage and modern mixture. A nice place to take photos, too.
