Dog pageant returns to Yangon

Pet lovers are in for a treat this weekend, as a popular dog pageant returns for the first time in 15 years.

The competition is organized by Yangon Division Municipal Committee (YDMC) and was held annually from 2001-2003. Now it returns after the long hiatus and will take place in Pearl Mahar Myaing Park, part of Kandawgyi Garden on Kabar Aye Road from Friday (March 23) to Tuesday.

It will give a platform for pet-related businesses and encourage better relationships between breeders and their dogs, stated a YDMC announcement.

The organizer Yangon Division Municipal Committee (YDMC) has been putting a lot of effort into making the event a success, according to Daw Hla May Oo Veterinary doctor from Assistant Butchery Department of YDMC.

The winning dog will be crowned the “champion of Yangon,” according to the announcement about the competition, which starts from 8am.
