After the big success of the &Proud festival at Thakin Mya Park, the organizers are returning this weekend with more activities from Feb 1-3 at the French Institute.

One of the festival organizers, Sai Maung Oo, told Myanmore, “We had an amazing first ever pride weekend in Yangon, with over 7,000 people joining our colorful festival site. It was a celebration of love, diversity and acceptance, and we can’t wait to do it all again next weekend at the French Institute from Thursday to Sunday.”

This time it will be celebrated with four days of 23 films from 10 countries, feature performances, two short documentaries from Myanmar, and lip-synch fun. Top Thai drag queens Kandy and Meantra will also take part in the event.

Here’s the schedule:

  •    February 1, 7.30pm – 10pm:

o   Performances

o   Finals of the lip sync battles

o   Evening feature film: The Subtitute (Taiwan)

  •    February 3, 12pm – midnight

o   Panel discussion

o   FAB party with AR-T

o   Drag performance by Kandy and Meantra from Bangkok.

o   Evening feature film: Die Beautiful (Philippines)

  •    February 4, 12pm – 10pm

o   Discussion

o   Cabaret

o   Evening feature film: Front Cover (China/USA)

The event is free of charge and tickets are not required.
