Myanmar alumni of Australian universities gathered yesterday on the lawn of Inya Lake Hotel to promote Australian education and business in an inaugural event for the community.
Australian Alumni Day saw crowds enjoying barbecue food from “Down Under,” talks on education, games, and business stalls touting the country’s produce.
Yangon firms run by Myanmar businesspeople who have studied and lived in Australia such as Father’s Office and Amazon Café were also present.
The “True Blue Sunday”-themed event was organized by the Australian Alumni Myanmar (AMM) and backed by the Australian embassy and AustCham Myanmar.
“We want to acknowledge Australia Alumni Day. We want to celebrate it every year,” AMM founder May Moe Wah told Myanmore.
AMM also helps charities covering emergency response relief, education, and pushes environmental initiatives as well as connecting local youth and entrepreneurs. May Moe Wah plans to add even more organizations to next year’s event.
