Pope Francis was greeted by Catholic officials, worshipers and children waving flags today when he arrived at Yangon Airport ahead of a four-day visit to Myanmar.

Francis will also meet separately with State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, military chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Buddhist monks during his stay. Many are concerned the visit will ignite controversy if Francis addresses the Rakhine crisis.
Catholics are one of the smallest religious minority groups in Myanmar and Bangladesh, where he will visit later in the week.
