Myanmar Travels to India for Tricky Asian Cup Qualifier

Myanmar’s national football team will play India tonight in what is a crucial qualifying match in their quest to reach the 2019 Asian Cup.

Myanmar are currently second in their qualification group after picking up four points from their first three matches.

The While Angels are in need of a good result at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa but they will be up against an unbeaten India side, who have already qualified after four straight wins.

Myanmar started the qualifiers with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to India in March, before beating Macao 4-0 and drawing 2-2 with Kyrgyzstan at home in October.

Head coach Gerd Zeise and his team are looking to reach the Asian Cup for the first time but they face a tough task to finish second in the group with three matches left to play.

Myanmar are level on points with Kyrgyzstan, who they still have to play a second time after their match in Bishkek was postponed in September due to security concerns.

The White Angels warmed up for their qualifier against India when they beat Cambodia 2-1 in a friendly in Phomh Penh last Thursday.
